Classes We Offer
One of the most valuable resources here at ABC is our education. We offer several types of green building classes which are held at either our chapter office in East Norriton or our training facility in Harleysville. The green building industry and rating systems are rapidly evolving; our classes are a great way to stay ahead of the curve.
This certification, developed jointly by Green Advantage (GA) and the Delaware Valley Green Build Council (DVGC), is a nationally recognized Environmental Certification designed to certify construction practitioners, contractors, subcontractors, trades people, managers, superintendents, foreman, project managers, and line personnel. The certification, which is complimentary to LEED Certification will teach attendees how to integrate green practices and strategies into the construction process to lighten the impact on the environment and improve the health of construction workers and building occupants. The training course includes the Green Advantage Commercial Certification Exam.
This class, designed for craft level workers, or to anyone wishing to gain a deeper understanding of the concepts of green building, provides fundamental instruction about the environment, green construction practices, and the green building rating systems. The class teaches the environmental impact of the built environment and identifies ways in which construction professionals can mitigate this impact responsibly and effectively.
This two session course will provide an overview of the LEED Green Associate credentialing process, as well as give helpful tips and resources for passing the exam. The LEED Green Associate credential is a new designation for 2009, but it is also the first step in obtaining a LEED AP specialization under the new LEED v3. This course will review logistics of taking the exam, including format and content, provide tips on how to prepare for the exam, and provide you with sample questions. No course can provide “all the answers to the exam” and in order to pass you will still need to spend additional study time outside this review course in order to prepare for the exam.
This one session course will provide an overview of the various green building rating systems available on the market today. Discussion will focus greatly on the USGBC and its LEED Rating system, while touching base on other rating systems like Green Globes and Energy Star. There will also be an introduction to the credentialing opportunities available to individuals, such as becoming Green Advantage certified, or a LEED Accredited Professional.
